Humanities
Comedy sketch project
During this semester of humanities, we were assigned with the task, to create a sketch comedy show for the public. This required us to use a mixture of humor and realism to truly write a comedy sketch that was both relatable and funny. We additionally dove into the art of improv to better all of our acting skills collectively. We practiced using improv daily, in our writing, acting, and work ethic to create the best sketch comedy show possible.
Comedy Sketch
Interview Sketch
This sketch was mainly inspired by our junior interview day. Since we were going to have the chance to experience an interview, we decided to create a sketch where it represented how horrible an interview would look like but also try to put some humor into it. We had several ideas how a good interview would go but how we could incorporate a bad interview.
The premise of our sketch is a person who goes through an interview to apply for an office position but finds himself in an office with the boss’s son, yet he thinks the son is the boss. Many obstacles and jokes come in between the interview which leads the son to being discovered as not being the boss of the company.
The interview is a character-based sketch as the son is trying to be the boss and it focuses on the son most of the time. Even Though there are some other characters Billy, the son, takes the spotlight with his wacky personality.
Some elements used in our sketch come down to the surprise as in the end we reveal how he is the boss’s son and his mom not knowing where he was. Another element used in our sketch is follow the follower as the secretary lets the kid being in the dad’s office as she is afraid that she will get fired from her job. The secretary keeps coming in the office to let know many things are coming in for him and Billy keeps rejecting her to go away.

Honors
Aside from Humanities I also took an additional Honors Humanities course. In this course we studied racism in America and focused on racism in our own state of California and city of San Diego. We read many articles, including book excerpts, online articles, and a dissertation to get a better understanding of the history of racism and it’s prevalence in our modern society.
